Vilma Pinedo in California

Vilma Pinedo comes from a long line of healers from the Andes mountains of Peru. Vilma’s grandparents are renowned shamans, and she was called to this path before she was born, when lightning struck her mother while pregnant with Vilma.  She grew up surrounded by master healers, and began her path as a “curandera” (healer) at age 12, reading coca leaves and using her intuition to tell people how to heal themselves, often with amazing results. Vilma learned English (a rarity in the Andes) and was one of the people asked to accompany the Dalai Lama to Machu Picchu. She uses her gift as a tool for healing, peace and unity.

Munay USA, a non-profit organization, is honored to bring Vilma to the U.S. for the first time to share her healing traditions and wisdom. The mission of Munay USA is to nurture and preserve existing wisdom, traditions, and lands of the world, while co-creating a way to meet the challenges of the present. "Irqichay" (Dear Child) is the current project funded by Munay USA to provide food and housing for children who come from the high Andes to attend school in the Sacred Valley. Currently, these children are staying in substandard conditions, lacking food and sometimes safety.  Munay USA will have 2 houses ready by May 15, 2016 and will also provide meals and tutoring. Parents have an integral role in this project, teaching and preserving the ancient Andean cosmology and traditions to their children while they receive an important education.

Schedule of Events May 19-29, 2016

We are excited to offer a series of wonderful events in Malibu, Los Angeles, Carmel and San Diego where Vilma will offer the "Ayni despacho” ceremony, used to help bring us back into “ayni”, or right relationship and balance. Vilma works with symbolic elements, healing energies and the intentions set forth by each individual to create the "despacho", which is similar to a mandala. It is then placed in a fire to alchemize the personal intentions of the group for rapid transformation. All donations for the despacho events are tax-deductible and go directly to support the children at Irqichay. Vilma will also offer one on one private despachos, coca leaf readings, and healing work.
